An Intimate, Farm-to-Table Elopement Shoot on Lopez Island
More than anything, a wedding should reflect the places, people, and things that carry great meaning to the couple getting married. With the goal of creating a heartfelt, meaningful wedding, with just the details that were special to our couple and nothing more, Seattle wedding photographer Anna Peters and I collaborated to design a shoot around a modern couple. They live simply and value quality over quantity. He is an architect and she’s a ceramicist, and they bring with them their mutual love for the outdoors and spending quiet moments together.
Instead of a large wedding, they opted for a small gathering on Lopez Island, a place close to their hearts. They wanted their guests to smell the salty air, feel the grass beneath their feet, hear the birds overhead, and relish in the secluded beauty of the San Juan Islands. They spent the morning together, enjoying coffee and thinking ahead to what the day and many years ahead together would bring. Our bride wore a modern gown with tiny floral details, and as the evening cooled, threw on a cozy silk and mohair sweater.
We set their ceremony on the bluff overlooking the ocean, and sprinkled in wildflowers as if they were growing down the aisle and around the couple. A simple, clean ceremony installation like this made the space feel special but didn’t detract from the view or the couple.
Guests enjoyed dinner on a table draped with linen and hand-crafted ceramic pieces. The flowers were effortless, as if someone had scooped the up from the fields and arranged them that morning, perfect for an intimate Lopez Island wedding.
A special thank you to the incredible vendor team that brought this shoot to life:
