An Ultra Romantic Wedding with Pastel Florals at Thornewood Castle
Working a real wedding with The Ganeys has been on my goal list for the past two years, so when the day came, I couldn’t have been more excited! And let me tell you, their photos of this romantic castle wedding don’t disappoint! Daisy and JiXiong envisioned a fairytale wedding at Lakewood’s Thornewood Castle, a beautiful castle wedding venue near Seattle.
The ceremony took place in the sunken English garden, a walled garden lined with heirloom roses and hydrangea, with a fountain in the middle. We built a lush, rounded ceremony arch fully covered with greenery and adorned with white and blush flowers including roses, cafe au lait dahlias, lisianthus, and phlox. We lined the aisle with large arrangements, and spread rose petals down the aisle to create a romantic path for Daisy and the couple’s wedding party to walk down.
For the reception inside the castle, we created a living floral staircase, with vines and flowers seemingly growing up from the staircase. The staircase at Thornewood is more than five hundred years old (it was brought over from a castle in Wales), so we couldn’t attach anything directly to the stairs or banister. Instead, we designed individual arrangements in low vases and set them on the stairs to create the illusion that the flowers were growing up the staircase. Dinner tables were set with a mix of compote and foam-free elevated arrangements to bring visual interest into the space and brighten up the wood-walled room.
We love designing flowers for weddings at Thornewood Castle with its beautiful gardens and romantic feel. On our wish list for 2020 is an outdoor reception here, maybe under a tent on the lawn! And hopefully The Ganeys will be around to photograph it again!
Thank you so much to this incredible vendor team!
