A Lush Spring Wedding in White and Green at Chateau Lill

Creating fresh inspiration at a venue where we’ve worked many times before is a fun challenge. When Callista with Callista & Company asked me to join her team for Weddings in Woodinville I knew we’d create something contemporary and impactful, while still complementing the Chateau Lill’s old world venue charm. In a color palette of champagne, ivory, taupe, and umber accented by the natural greenery at Chateau Lill, the overall design was neutral but anything but plain.

Most couples get married under the canopy of trees above the big pond at Chateau Lill, but when we did our site visit, we were inspired by the path between the vineyard rows, leading to the pond. We saw the potential for this area, while narrow, to comfortably seat guests for a small wedding, under 90 guests. Always wanting to present new ideas to the world, we decided to set up the ceremony there, and hopefully inspire engaged couples to do the same. We built dual white and green floral arches, one at the entrance to the aisle and one at the altar. We used a base of sturdy huckleberry branches and other deep greens, with early spring blooms such as lilac, spirea, flowering quince, tulips, ranunculus, sweet peas, tuberose, and garden roses. To connect the two arches, we lined the aisle with arrangements, to create the appearance that the flowers were growing along the aisle. This ‘growing aisle flower’ concept has been a trend this year and we see it being a 2020 wedding trend as well.

Guests entered the reception up a staircase lined with hundreds of hurricane candles. The long dinner table was set with neutral La Tavola French linen and low white and centerpieces in bread bowls, to create the effect as if the flowers were growing from the table. The table design included elegant chargers, gold flatware, delicate modern stemware, and hand embroidered napkins. Guests found their seat at the table with the help of a champagne seating chart, in front of a paper and fresh floral wall installation. To bring life to the bar, we created floral and greenery panels for the bar front, and placed multiple smaller arrangements on the shelves behind the bar.

Throughout the day, the bride wore three different couture wedding gowns from Nyanza Bridal, complemented by two different white and green bridal bouquets. One featured only white flowers including lilac, reflexed tulips, ranunculus, and sweet peas, while the second bouquet was composed of just three elements: spirea, sweet peas, and flannel flower for a wild yet architectural design.
